Develop your skills

Hand-tied

Commonly known as natural stemmed bouquets or bunches. Used in all fields of floristry including wedding, funeral and corporate work.

  • Construction techniques including spiralling stems, straight stems, finishing and binding.
  • Learn how to make hand-tied designs such as gift bouquets, corporate vase displays, and funeral sheafs as well as elegant wedding posies
    • Duration 1 day per week in the classroom over 8 weeks

Learn New Techniques

Base Medium

Florists use a base medium to construct a range of designs. A florist may use a base medium if they need more control of the placement of flowers, more stability for display and transportation and to make sure flowers hold their shape and are always in water.

  • Explore a range of construction techniques including foam-free and sustainable designs.
  • Create designs such as table arrangements, funeral designs and vase work.
  • Designs styles from classic to contemporary.
    • Duration 1 day per week in the classroom over 10 weeks

Refine and practise

Wiring

A specialist technique wiring allows us to stretch the boundaries of what is possible and create unique and bespoke pieces as well as classic designs for weddings and formal events.

  • Construction techniques such as taping, support wiring, mount wiring and glueing
  • Learn how to make buttonholes, headdresses as well as elegant cake florals and exquisite wired trail bouquets.
    • Duration 1 day per week in the classroom over 10 weeks

Bring it all together

Flower Shop & Wrap it up

In flower shop develop your commercial floristry skills by understanding the day to day operations of a flower shop, merchandising and working with customers.

  • Duration 1 day in the classroom

In wrap it up Bring together all you have learnt during your course to give you the confidence to go out into the industry. This one day workshop focuses on wedding consultation and events. Learn how to quote and execute for large projects.
