SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry has 21 units or subjects and you must be assessed as competent in all units be be awarded your qualification. This can be achieved by successfully completing all practical assessments, theory assignments and formal work experience.

You can choose to commence your program in either January, April, July or September.

We have four intakes each year, offering you flexibility and choice of study days on weekdays and Saturday's.

Most students complete the course in 9 months studying one day per week.

With our flexible program you can select to fast-track your study by attending more than one class per week and finish within 3-6 months.

Or you can spread your studies over the full two years. It's your choice. Your enrolment is valid for TWO YEARS.

Yes, to obtain your Certificate you do need to complete a minimum of 5 full days of work experience in the florist industry. We offer work experience with Pearsons Florist.

The Pearsons program is a blend of classroom work and self-paced study.   

Attend 33 full-day classes at our School in Stanmore.

2-6 hours a week of self-paced study

Most classes start at 9:30am and finish at 4:30pm

Complete 5 days of work experience

All Flowers, foliage, wrapping, and tools are included*

There is also some homework. The more you practice the better a florist you will become!  We recommend you allocate 2-3 hours per week to practice your floristry and complete any assignments if you are studying over 9 months.

As Pearsons is NOT REGISTERED with the Australian Government (CRICOS) to accept International Students on a Student Visa, you would have to apply yourself for a short term Visitors Visa. We cannot assist students with a visa to Australia.

There are a variety of visas that would allow you to study at Pearsons.

No previous floristry skills or experience is required.
Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age and require satisfactory completion of Year 10 or equivalent.

All are welcome to join our course. Floristry is visual so most students with English as a Second Language are able to develop the practical skills required to become a work ready florist.

However the theory and written elements of the course can be more challenging.  We recommend meeting with our Enrolment Team prior to enrolling to discuss the type of support you may require to complete the course. Additional fees may apply.

Enrolment on to the course does not automatically guarantee that a student will have the skills to complete all elements of the course. 

To be able to complete all learning and assessments and work effectively in the flower industry you will need:  
a)       A sound command of written and oral English for effective communication both during your course and in the workplace. For example, providing customer service in a flower shop, understanding a client’s needs and quoting for wedding flowers and other functions or events.   
b)       Year 10 or equivalent numeracy skills so you are able to calculate the value of flowers to be used in a bouquet and manage all retail transactions.   
c)       Physical attributes of working in a florist requiring both fine and gross motor skills. Your work day is likely to include unpacking flowers, lifting buckets, flower care and handling, maintaining the store display and standing for long periods. When designing floral arrangements you will be using your hands for fine wiring and making large bouquets.

If you have commenced floristry study at another institution or have experience working as a florist, you may be eligible for exemption for some components of this qualification. For more information read our RPL policy.

We endeavour to support students with Special Learning Needs. A meeting will be organised with the student and the School to determine the best way to respond to specific learning needs.  This might involve Private Tuition, taking a class more than one time, reading material prior to attending a class, having a support person present in the classroom. These arrangements will be put in place on an individual basis and might incur extra cost to the student. Our aim is to provide a supportive learning environment for all students.  

To work effectively in floristry you need good communication and physical skills. You will need to be able to communicate with colleagues and customers, basic numeracy skills and good fine and gross motor skills.

Enrolment on to the course does not automatically guarantee that a student will have the skills to complete all elements of the course.

Our Career Course, SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry costs $12,300.

A non-refundable deposit of $1,500, is your first payment to secure your place.

The remaining of your course fees are structured below:

• 3 months – Full payment of $10,800 due one week before start date.
• 6 months – two instalments of $5,400, due one week before each cluster.
• 9 months – $1,200 due the 1st business day of the month over 9 months.

If you are enrolling in Certificate III Career Course your fees include:
• All training, workbooks and support program.
• The flowers and materials required to complete Certificate III Designs.
• 15% off our advanced workshops

What is NOT included in my fees?

• Flowers for three market assignments (budget $200 in total).
• If you wish to repeat a class there is a flower/admin fee of $65.
