A floral demonstration evening our Cert III students can't stop talking about!
This October Pearsons School of Floristry was very excited to host the incredibly talented and inspirational Sue McLeary of Passion Flower Sue.
Sue McLeary, is from Ann Arbor Michigan, is a floral designer, three-dimensional artist and instructor who creates unique and uncommon boundary-pushing floral art including elaborate headpieces, floral wearables, and her signature succulent jewellery. Sue's intricate, seasonally-inspired creations and wearable floral pieces have been described as exquisite "living artwork."
Sue came to Sydney to teach a 3 day class as part of our Master Class series, continuing on the trend of other big names who have been to teach at our school.
Each day the students created beautiful pieces using innovative techniques and learning new skills and knowledge in design. Our current certificate lll students got to see glimpses of the work going on in the Master Class as they came and went around the school. So it was with much anticipation and great excitement that they gathered together for an enrichment evening on the last day of Sue’s master Class.
Our Enrichment program is designed to add another layer to the skills and knowledge that our Certificate lll students gain in the classroom during their course. Bringing innovative and cutting edge designers to share their creativity and insider knowledge and giving our students exclusive and invaluable access to key people in our industry.
Sue demonstrated a number of her well known designs including a floral tattoo on our lovely model Sophia as well as talking about her journey in floristry and where she finds her creative inspiration.
The evening was a resounding success, students were delighted to see Sue’s stunning work and thrilled with her generosity in sharing how and why she creates the way she does. The feedback after the night was flowing with positive responses and students so inspired, even stating that what they had seen was game changing for them in the way they looked at their own work, and others off to put into practice what they had seen as soon as they could!
Certficate lll in Floristry gives students a good solid foundation to build on but we also believe in adding to this by sharing our own industry experience and knowledge, with soon to be 50 years in Floristry business! And also introducing our students to as many industry people and events as possible. Floristry is diverse and varied and getting help early on to find direction and hone their passions gives our students the best ever start in their floristry careers.
Our Certificate lll students can’t wait for our enrichment events, as each one is exclusive and unique. We’ll keep you posted on what’s coming up next!
