Flower Friends, From Budding Students to Blooming Florist!

Some friendships are rooted in shared experiences, but for this group of florists, their bond blossomed through a love of flowers. Maha, Christabel, Nadia, Nicole, and their classmates came to Pearsons School of Floristry from different walks of life, yet they left with not only new skills but lifelong friendships.

From Different Paths to One Passion

For Maha, floristry wasn’t always the plan. She spent years as an accountant before a simple bouquet of tulips sparked a love for flowers. "Since completing the course, I finally feel like I’m on the right path. I’ve taken steps toward my dream," she says.

Nadia’s story is similar—after working in graphic design, she found joy in rearranging a birthday bouquet and realized her true calling. "My husband noticed how happy flowers made me and encouraged me to pursue it," she recalls.

Nicole, on the other hand, had always been drawn to flowers. As a child, she would pick blooms from her Nana’s garden, and while life took her in a different direction, she finally returned to her floral dreams after 25 years. "I feel more alive now!" she shares.

For Christabel, it was a one-day Pearsons workshop that sealed the deal. "The Pearsons Trainers inspired me that day, and I decided right then to enroll," she says.

Why Pearsons?

All five florists agree—Pearsons stood out not just for its reputation but for the immersive learning experience. "The friendships we made, the incredible teachers, and the hands-on training made every day special," Nadia says. Maha adds, "I loved how we got to create shop orders—it allowed us to express our personal style."

From Classroom to Career

Each of them has taken different paths since graduating. Maha launched her own brand, Verdance Floral Studios, and has already booked bridal bouquets and wedding work through Instagram. Nicole has dived into event floristry, working on weddings, school fairs, and large-scale installations. Christabel gained firsthand experience in Pearsons’ busy florist operation, learning the fast-paced world of online orders and deliveries.

Nadia is exploring work opportunities and has found that florists are eager to welcome trained students. "It’s been easy to get experience—florists are happy to have students who are willing to learn," she says.

Lessons from the Industry

Stepping into the real world of floristry has taught them all invaluable lessons. "Everyone has their own way of doing things, but one thing is clear—we are capable and well-trained," Nicole reflects. Maha agrees, emphasizing the importance of practice: "Since leaving the classroom, I’ve developed my own style and a better understanding of flower combinations."

Advice for Future Florists

Their advice for aspiring florists? "Just do it!" Maha says enthusiastically. Christabel echoes the sentiment: "You’ll learn so much—not just about flowers, but about yourself." Nicole adds, "It’s hard work, but if you love flowers and creativity, it’s incredibly rewarding."

Their journey is just beginning, but one thing is certain—this group of flower friends will continue to support each other as they bloom in the industry.
