From Curious to Creative: Your Journey into Floristry Starts Here

Thinking about floristry but not ready to commit to a full course?

You’re not alone.

For many people, the first step into floristry starts with a simple curiosity... A love of flowers, a creative spark, or the feeling that they’d like to do something more creative and hands-on.

At Pearsons School of Floristry, we believe your floristry journey doesn’t have to start with a big commitment.

You can start with a one-day workshop, explore a focused short course, or combine different learning experiences to discover what you love. From there, you can choose to take your skills further through the Pearsons Career Course or Certificate III in Floristry.

There’s no one way into floristry. You can choose your own adventure.

Start with a Workshop: Your First Taste of Floristry

Our workshops are designed as an inspiring and relaxed introduction to the world of floristry.

Whether you’re completely new to flowers, looking for a creative experience, or simply wondering if floristry could be for you, a workshop is a great place to start.

Our full-day workshops are hands-on and led by experienced floristry professionals. You’ll learn practical techniques, work with fresh flowers and create your own floral designs to take home. No previous experience is required.

Our current workshops include experiences such as:

  • Explore Floral Colour
  • Design with Trends
  • Christmas Full Day Workshop
  • Private Group Experiences

Each offers a different way to experience flowers, design and the Pearsons classroom environment.

Why start with a workshop?

A workshop is more than just a fun day with flowers.

It gives you the opportunity to:

  • Try floristry without committing to a longer course
  • Discover whether you enjoy working creatively with flowers
  • Learn from experienced florists
  • Start to build some practical skills and confidence
  • Experience what learning at Pearsons is like
  • Start thinking about where you might want your floristry journey to take you

For some students, one workshop is all they’re looking for. For others, it sparks something bigger.

And that’s where your next step begins.

Ready to Go a Little Deeper? Explore Our Short Courses

If your workshop leaves you thinking, “I want to learn more,” our short courses are the next step.

While workshops give you a taste of floristry, our short courses allow you to focus on a particular area of floristry and develop your skills through more in-depth, hands-on learning.

Rather than committing to one broad program, you can explore the areas that genuinely interest you.

Choose Your Own Floristry Adventure

Perhaps you love creating bouquets and want to strengthen your foundations.

Maybe you’re drawn to beautiful vase arrangements.

Or perhaps you’ve always imagined yourself designing wedding flowers or creating florals for events.

Our short courses allow you to explore different areas of the industry, including:

Floristry Foundations
Build your confidence with essential floristry techniques, bouquet design, flower care and the principles of floral design.

Vase Designs & Arrangements
Explore different arrangement styles, mechanics and techniques for creating beautiful floral displays.

Funeral Tributes
Develop specialised skills and an understanding of designing thoughtful floral tributes.

Wedding Floristry
Explore the world of wedding flowers, from intimate designs and ceremony styling through to the practical considerations of working with wedding clients.

Event Floristry
Discover the creative and practical skills involved in designing florals for events and larger-scale installations.

The beauty of short-course study is that you can follow your interests.

You might choose one course because you want to learn a specific skill. Or you might explore several areas to discover which part of floristry excites you most.

You Don't Have to Choose Just One

Your floristry education doesn’t have to follow a straight line.

You could start with a workshop, discover that you love creating bouquets, then move into Floristry Foundations.

Perhaps you then discover a passion for weddings, so you take Wedding Floristry.

Or maybe events and large-scale design capture your imagination, leading you towards Event Floristry.

Each experience can help you build confidence, develop new skills and understand where your creativity fits within the floristry industry.

Your Floristry Journey Starts Where You Are

You don't need to know exactly where floristry will take you before you begin.

You don't need years of experience.

And you don't have to commit to a full qualification on day one.

Start with a workshop.

Try a short course.

Explore something that catches your eye.

Learn from experienced florists.

Discover what you love.

Then, when you're ready, take the next step.

At Pearsons, we’re here to help you find your own path into floristry, one flower, one skill and one experience at a time.

When You're Ready to Take the Next Step

If you discover that floristry is more than just a hobby, Pearsons offers two pathways for students ready to take their learning further.

Pearsons Career Course

The Pearsons Career Course is a hands-on pathway designed to take students from beginner through to more advanced floristry, with a focus on weddings, events and corporate work. It combines practical learning, industry experience and creative development.

It can be a great choice if you’re looking to change careers, explore floristry professionally or build skills for creative work across weddings and events.

Certificate III in Floristry

The Certificate III in Floristry provides a nationally recognised qualification with a strong focus on retail floristry and core floristry foundations.

It’s a great option if you’re looking for a recognised qualification and want to develop the skills needed to work in a traditional retail floristry environment.
