SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry

What is Smart and Skilled?
This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.
Smart and Skilled is an initiative from the NSW Government that allows a student the opportunity to choose where they can study with Government support. Pearsons School of Floristry (PSF) has been awarded a contract to offer training for SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry under this government initiative.

Are you eligible?
To study with Smart and Skilled funding at Pearsons, applicants must be:
- 15 years old or over
- No longer at school
- Living or working in NSW
- An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
- Have a minimum of 8 hours of consistent work per week in the Floristry industry (this can be considered as either paid or unpaid voluntary work) – preferable but not essential as a Pearsons School of Floristry requirement.
Enrolment Process at Pearsons School of Floristry
- Check your Eligibility for funding and review your eligibility for Concessions/exemptions.
- Complete the online form to register your interest in enrolling under Smart and Skilled funding. This will include submitting an application letter and a character reference.
- Once your forms are received, our Enrolment Manager, will be in contact.
If you are successful with your application, you will be required to attend an interview to:
- Review the study program for SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry
- Review the planned Training Plan.
- Review the TERMS and CONDITIONS of Enrolment for Smart and Skilled covering any fees and potential costs (covered in this document)
- Review PSF Policies and your rights and obligations
- Get a QUOTE from SMART and SKILLED on what your student contribution will be. You will need to sign consent documents for this.
- If all goes through to your satisfaction, we will then be able to proceed with payment for your course and enrol you into the class.
- Applicants may be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test at the interview stage.
What to send through before the interview

- Proof of Identity
- Proof of Eligibility for Concessions
- Letter from your Florist employer (if applicable)
- Copies of any PRIOR QUALITIFICATIONS
- Your UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (we can assist you to apply for this)

SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry: Smart and Skilled Course details
- The program takes the form of flexible delivery with a combination of classroom study and home study.
- This program is viewed as a FULL TIME COURSE.
- It is mandatory that you attend every lesson, in person (33 days in class at Stanmore).
- You must allocate a minimum of 20 hours per week to complete your studies. This covers Classroom sessions, homework, assignments, and work experience.
- You must be flexible as to when you can study.
- You must be eligible for funding under Smart and Skilled.
- The course will be undertaken over 9 to 12 months.
- Your study schedule for the first term will be published two weeks before commencement. We cannot guarantee a specific study day.
- Fast-tracking your program is NOT AVAILABLE to Smart and Skilled funded students
- You need to successfully complete all 21 units to complete the qualification.
- Students must be over 15 years of age to enrol.
Method of Delivery
Our program is a combination of classroom-based training (33 class days) plus self-paced study to complete assignments and homework each week.
You will need to complete 5-days of Industry WORK EXPIERENCE
All candidates must complete five full days working in industry within the first 3-months of their program.
You have the choice of organising your own Work Experience or completing it at Pearsons STANMORE within Term 1 of your program.
PSF Smart and Skilled Fee Policy and Refund Policy
Smart and Skilled Student Contributions
Under Smart and Skilled you pay only the Student Contribution fee plus a $50 tool kit fee. What you will pay depends on your individual circumstances and will be the same at every Smart and Skilled Provider.
This varies depending on whether this is your first qualification above a Certificate III since leaving school, and whether you are entitled to a Concession.
Smart and Skilled Student Contribution

You will need to bring evidence of your proof of eligibility to your pre-enrolment interview.

Student Fee Concessions or exemptions
A student fee concession or exemption MAY apply.
You will be required to bring specific evidence of your eligibility for a concession to your pre-enrolment interview to support your claim. The information on the evidence required is available on the SMART AND SKILLED Website.

When is the Student Contribution Due?

What do the fees include?
If you are enrolling in Certificate III your fees include:
- All training (classroom and online), workbooks and support program
- flowers and materials required to complete Certificate III Designs
What is not included in the course fees?
- Replacement of lost sundry items or textbooks (see student manual for costs)
- Flowers and materials for any competitions you choose to enter.
- Private Tuition (if required - $150 per hour, minimum of 3 hours)
- Tool KIT- FEE $50 payable at time of ENROLMENT
- You can attend a makeup class or repeat a class subject to availability. There will be a material plus admin fee of $120.
Additional costs: There are three assignments throughout the course that require you to purchase flowers yourself from the markets. Please allocate $200 for this (i.e., $50-$75 each)
REFUNDS
Pearsons School of Floristry will only refund your Student Contribution in the following circumstances:
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit transfer are granted (partial Refund)
- PSF do not Commence the Course for which you have paid fees (Full refund will be given)
- PSF is unable to continue your training (Partial refund or alternate placement in a course – your preference)
- You elect not to commence your training program and provide Pearsons with 20 working days’ notice PRIOR to COMMENCING any training (Full refund)
If you elect to withdraw or abandon your course once you commence your training plan NO REFUND will be issued under any circumstances
Your progression through the course
Your progression through the course is dependent upon you achieving your study Milestones. If you need more time to complete your Assignments and Assessments your Cluster Program can be put on hold. You can recommence your studies once you are up to date with your Training Plan.
The best way to stay on track with your study program is to attend EVERY CLASS and COMPLETE all Home Study on time.
Missing a class
We recommend that you attend all classes as scheduled. However, if this is not possible your options are:
- Planned Absences: If ten (10) business days written notice is provided, the student MAY be able to attend the same class at another day/month at no charge, subject to availability. A place in another class is NOT GURARANTEED but is dependent on schedules and student numbers. Contact PSF Student Support for assistance with this.
Alternatively, you may in some circumstances book on to a PRIVATE TUITION (fees apply).
PLEASE NOTE: It is essential to your learning that you attend Week 1 of your Wiring Cluster. If you cannot attend, we recommend you attend a make-up class (if there are any available) or to book on to a PRIVATE TUITION (fees apply)
- Unplanned Absences: If less than 10 days written notice is given, you MAY be able to attend the same class on another day/month subject to availability.
The following fees will be charged to cover MATERIALS and ADMINISTRATION:

Private tuition
If you require one-on-one training or need to re-sit your assessment, you can apply for Private Tuition. Here, a trainer is available to help you with your specific programme needs, subject to availability.
- Cost is $150 per hour, plus $75 for the cost of flowers/materials and runs for a minimum of 3 hours.
- It is a one-on-one session with a trainer/assessor.
Course Delivery Changes
Occasionally it may be necessary to cancel classes or transfer students when enrolment numbers are not sufficient to conduct a class. If PSF changes a course prior to course commencement and a mutually suitable time cannot be found for you, a full refund will be provided, including any deposits. If a class is amalgamated during your course and no mutually suitable time can be found for you, you will be refunded based on a pro-rata basis.
Technology requirements for Course
To complete this course, you will need access to a computer, a smart phone with camera, a printer, and the Internet. A smart phone is required to be brought to each class.
Administration Costs
There are additional costs to re-print and resend documentation:
- Re-print of SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry (SLF30110) certificates and Statements of Attainment: $30.00
- Bounced cheque or declined credit card payment cost $50.00.

As a course services provider, Pearsons School of Floristry supplies services and guarantees that these services will be:
- Provided with due care and skill.
- Fit for the specified purpose; and
- Provided within a reasonable time.
Pearsons School of Floristry ensures it uses an acceptable level of skill or technical knowledge and takes all necessary care to avoid loss or damage when providing course services.
Pearsons School of Floristry does not provide any guarantee that:
- A student will successfully complete a training product on its scope of registration; or
- A training product can be completed in a manner which does not meet the requirements of the Standards for RTOs 2015; or
- A student will obtain a particular employment outcome where this is outside the control of Pearsons School of Floristry.

The Complaints and Appeals Policy is published on our website and explains the process to use if you wish to make a complaint or appeal and assessment decision.
Student Rights
Pearsons School of Floristry will ensure that all enrolled students will:
- receive quality training and assessment that meets the NVR Standards for RTO’s 2015
- receive the training and support necessary to enable competency to be achieved.
- Issue AQF Certificates and Statements of Attainment on successful completion of the training course
- have access to our consumer protection system, including an identified Consumer Protection Officer and our Complaints and Appeals Process
- receive a refund for services not provided in the event of the training program being terminated early or if the agreed services are not provided either by ourselves or by a third party delivering on our behalf.
- have their personal information protected in accordance with the National Privacy Principles and have access to that information on request
- be fully informed of fees and charges to complete the training course, including charges for equipment.
- be provided with sufficient information regarding the requirements of the training and assessment to enable them to make an informed decision regarding enrolment in the training product.
- be provided with information regarding the implications of government training entitlements and subsidy arrangements in relation to the delivery of the service and enrolment in other training.
- provide a safe training environment free from harassment and discrimination.
Student Responsibilities
All students must ensure that they:
- provide true and accurate information.
- Always behave in an ethical and responsible manner when engaged in training and assessment activities.
- meet their Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) duty of care responsibilities by immediately reporting any WHS concerns or incidents and follow any WHS related instructions.
- do not behave in any way that might intimidate, threaten, harass, or embarrass other students or staff.
- are always free from drugs and alcohol while in the training environment.
- are punctual and attend all scheduled training and assessment sessions.
- complete all assignment and assessments as scheduled.1
- meet assessment deadlines.
- do not cause damage to equipment or facilities.
- behave in a responsible and ethical manner.
- obtain a USI and sign all enrolment and consent forms.
- adhere to PSF Code of Conduct as stated on the Student Portal.
Recognition
Recognition is the process for people, through approved Smart and Skilled training providers, to have skills and knowledge from outside formal education, or units of competency completed through the training system, assessed, and recognised. Recognition reduces the student fee for a Smart and Skilled course.
There are two ways of recognising your previous skills, knowledge and learning under Smart and Skilled: Recognition of prior learning and Credit transfer. For more information on Recognition, refer to. the RPL and Credit Transfer Policy on the Smart and Skilled page of our website
Deferring your course
You can defer your studies for a maximum of 3 months from the date of notification to PSF of your intention to defer. This must be done in writing, please complete the Deferring Form.
Transferring to another Provider
You are entitled to transfer your studies from PSF to another Smart and Skilled provider.
Discontinuing the course
You can withdraw from the course. Fees paid are non-refundable. You will receive a Statement of Attainment for any units of competency that you have been assessed as COMPETENT. This must be done in writing, please complete the online Withdrawing Form.
Course abandonment
It will be deemed that you have abandoned this course if you do not attend your scheduled classes and you do not contact the school. PSF will make three attempts via email to contact you but will consider that you have abandoned your course if we do not hear from you within 3 months.
Awarding of the Qualification
Students who complete the whole classroom components of the course, all practical assessments, theory assignments and industry assessment programme and have been assessed as competent in all 21 units of competency will receive the nationally accredited SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry.
An RPL (Recognised prior learning) process is also available to obtain the qualification.
Students who withdraw prior to completing the course and have been assessed as competent in one or more units of the course will be issued with an accredited Statement of Attainment in partial completion of SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry.
Additional Support
At Pearsons School of Floristry, we endeavour to support students with Special Learning Needs who have the required skills to undertake the course.
On our Enrolment form, there is a section students can complete if they have special learning needs, and your requirements can be discussed at the Application Interview to determine the best way to respond to specific learning needs. Additional support might include, providing reading material prior to attending a class or gaining approval to have their support person present in the classroom.
These arrangements will be put in place on an individual basis and might incur extra cost to the student. Our aim is to supply a supportive learning environment for all students.

Photography and student statements
With the permission of the students Pearsons will use images of students in the classroom or at events or work experience, as well as written statements from students, for promotional purposes.
Students may take pictures of their own work in progress during class but may not take film or photos of trainers or other students without prior permission.
Written notification of changes
Pearsons School of Floristry is required by law to keep comprehensive student records. Any changes to a student’s enrolment and study program must be received by the school in writing.
This includes any change of information, such as requests to defer, notification of absence, course withdrawal, change to contact details, etc.
Pearsons School of Floristry reserves the right to alter the Terms and Conditions for Enrolment in SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry at any time.
