The Master Class of dreams!
What an incredible week we had with Joseph Massie.
Over three very special days in September, a group of like-minded, flower-loving people came together to learn, share, and create with the incredible talent that is Joseph Massie.
Known as the florist of his generation and a leading light in sustainable techniques, Joesph’s work is admired worldwide. Participants were inspired as he generously and freely shared his vast and valued knowledge. Each day they all got to put his skilled advice into practice to create the most stunning designs.
The flower choices, all curated by Joseph himself, were remarkable with participants saying they had never been to a course with such variety and generosity of materials to work with. We also like to thank Bernard, Director of Pearsons Florist for pursuing and constantly supplying us with Joseph’s flower choices daily from the Sydney Flower Market. All this was topped off with a professional photo shoot for each participant to capture images of their beautiful work.

Day 1 - Ornate Centrepieces
Beginning with a deep dive into form and placement, Joseph guided us through the theory of the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio. It was fun and interactive with participants quickly identifying where they could see the 3-5-8 in a design.
Following our theory session, participants watched as Joseph demonstrated table designs with the most glorious selection of seasonal flowers and foliage.
The amazing day was topped off with a styling and photography session. Everyone’s floral designs looked truly beautiful; they all had the opportunity to elegantly style their tablescapes.
Day 2 – Wedding Bouquets
The wedding bouquet day was so much fun and stretched the participant's creative and technical skills. Working with frameworks, we made a lush garden-style bouquet and a contemporary cascading bouquet.
The flowers were divine, and the colour palettes were ever so pretty!
Day 3 - Floral Installations.
Installation day was showstopping!
Participants were divided into teams and set to work on a large-scale installation with a brief from Joseph himself. The teams were told what materials and props they could use and were given a few techniques to include. To make it even more fun, Joseph turned it into a competition with the winning team to receive a fabulous prize of an online course each from Joseph Massie Flower School.
The game was on!
After a time for discussion, the students had to present their ideas and concepts to Joseph and then create the installation.
The teams worked so well together, and each installation design was amazing. The concepts were a young Australian designer’s fashion show launch, a day at the races photo booth, and an in-store installation for a luxury brand.
The energy in the room was electric and so much fun.

Joseph went above and beyond, not just teaching the incredible Masterclass but also providing personal feedback to the participants and in-depth demonstrations.
What a week, all expectations were exceeded, and we just had the best time immersed in the glorious world of Joseph Massie.
